In Super Mario World, there are different colored Yoshis. They are red, blue, yellow, and green. Bowser kidnaps them and gives them to the Koopa Kids to watch. Mario and Luigi find the green Yoshi, and he helps them. Yoshi can eat enemies, but if Mario gets hit, Yoshi will panic and run away. He can't enter Ghost Houses (except for the Sunken Ghost Ship) or Castles. Yoshi can get different abilities from shells. If he gets wings from a block, he will be able to fly. Mario can find Baby Yoshis and give them shells to make them turn into adult Yoshis. Eventually, Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi find Princess Toadstool.
It is the first game Yoshi appears in.
